Lipstick is essential to polishing off a look. It is also the thing most people get wrong in their make up regime. Knowing the right shade vs. wrong for your lips is more of a science than a choice. Here are my tips to turning your look right-side-up: Know the trend.

The lipstick trend now is a pop of color. Know if you have cool or warm coloring (see my book, “Dress Code” if you don’t). Choose the right warmth or coolness in the lipstick to match your own color harmony. For example, choose orange based reds or corals if you have warm coloring.

Choose blue reds or fuchsia pinks if you have cool coloring. Match the brightness of the lipstick to your own brightness, so the lipstick doesn’t overwhelm your face. This season, go as bold as you can! Test the lipstick on the back of your hand and bring to your face. Notice if it flatters your coloring.

Try it on your lips. The right color will brighten your entire face and make you feel happier. Buy a coordinating lip liner if you need it to give your lipstick a clean edge. Wear with confidence and enjoy! Congrats on updating your summer face!
